NAVIGLI POETRY SLAM: THE CHALLENGE OF POETRY
12 Italian and International poets on the stage
of Le Trottoir, the public will vote them!
On 6 November at 21.30 will start at The
Trottoir, date of onset of the scene of the Navigli Poetry Slam, the poetry contest under the rules of poetry
slam. The poetry slam was born in the 80s in the U.S.
by Marc Kelly Smith and asserts itself in Italy thanks to Lello Voce in 2001.
To revive and celebrate the Poetry Slam, Max Ponte and Annelisa Addolorato give
birth to Navigli Poetry Slam in one day in November (on the Sundays of November
1984 Marc Smith began the Slam, with an ' open mic' , then formalizing it in
Poetry Slam around in 1987). It is a poetry competition which has ancient
origins, from trobadour songs to the popular rhymes. Poetry returns to its
original oral form - the triumph of the spoken word - becoming direct
expression, addressed to society, to the community, and the community evaluates
and discusses it . The formula of the Poetry Slam has helped to give a real
jolt to the Italian Poetry, approaching with its vitality an audience than ever
before. Poetry becomes a game show and immersing himself in our contemporary
world. The rules are very plain: only a 3-minute head and unpublished poems, no
theatrical acts. The speed, the pace of the show and voting extended to the
entire audience make this event a very dynamic and exciting literary event.
The poets in the race are 12, selected through
a public competition and from various Italian cities and from abroad.
The race is led by the poets Max Ponte and
Annelisa Addolorato, who will propose short texts out of competition. Max
Ponte, author of the poetry collection ‘Eyeliner’, is one of the leaders of the
Italian Poetry Slam and he conceived the event deciding to twin it with the
scene of Murazzi, in his city, Turin.
Anne Addolorato, writer, translator and hispanist, recently published in New York the bilingual
poetry collection ‘My Voice Seeks You’.
The Navigli Poetry Slam is the first date of
the Lombard Poetry Slam League, which will continue with a packed schedule. Guest
of the evening of 6 November will be the poet Dome Bulfaro, engine of
"Poesiapresente" (Monza/Brianza) and engaged in Lombard and national
Poetry Slam scenes.
The Navigli Poetry Slam raises the poetry slam
in Milan, giving the city a poetic form that
animates the nights of Europe, nowadays. The
date of November 6 is the first of a series of similar events organized by
Navigli Poetry Slam .
